    About Chef Charity

    I grew up with a father who loved to eat and a mother who loved to cook, garden, and had a good understanding of nutrition. (We were the crazy family who ate soy beans in the 1950’s!) As a child, I derived great pleasure out of learning to cook and made special things for my family. Many of our famous family stories have to do with some of those cooking efforts!

    With a childhood full of wonderful, good-tasting food experiences I also learned a lot of lessons about eating wisely.  Our food is both a source of energy as well as comfort.  Balancing the two is challenging and the rewards are in our health and vitality.  Like most people, I have experienced imbalance and balance.

    I have found a path to balance with Huichol Shamanism and embraced a life based on love and healing myself, my family, my world. I have studied this way with Brant Secunda, a Shaman trained in the Huichol tradition, for over 25 years.

    I had a very powerful visionary experience at Mt. Shasta in Northern California. The spirit of that mountain spoke to me very strongly about my life and my future. I decided to listen. I decided to make some big changes in my life. I decided to live and contribute my insights about food, nutrition, lifestyle, and sharing it all with each other.

    I have returned to my love of cooking. I have studied nutrition both on my own and from Bauman College of Nutrition. Combining these two interests led me to create For Life! personal chef services.

    My hope and commitment is to facilitate balance of delight in the food you eat matched to your lifestyle to create excellent health.  It is my dream that For Life! can help you change how you feel.
